Two other parties I remember well were - a camping party. This was held at some-one's house, but as they had a large back garden we all took our tents and camped over night. Also a posh party, it was held at a local hotel. All the boys wore black tie suits and the girls ball gowns.

If home isn't an option then see what local facilities there are. Sports or social clubs can often be a good venue, with a dance floor and a bar (selling soft drinks). Night clubs in our local town now organise teen nights, that would make a great venue for a happy birthday party.
