Top Kids Party Drinks Tips and Ideas

Kids party drinks will really be dictated by the age group you're catering for. Very small children will not be needing fizzy pop. Juice in a sports top type bottle are usually best to prevent spillage for tiny guests.

It's generally best to steer clear of lots of fizzy drinks unless you want a crowd of hyper children on your hands. Although some of the ideas below do contain fizz, there are plenty of healthy choice ideas also. Substitute fizzy drinks with fruit juice or cordial combined with fizzy water or soda.

Kids Party Drinks

Sparking five a day Mix sparkling mineral water or soda water with orange juice. This is a really good way of getting one of their 5 a day inside them. Instead of orange juice you could use cherry, apple, red or white grape juice.

Lemonade Float. I used to spend every summer at my Gran's in Wales. She made these drinks which I thought were really special, and so refreshing on a hot day. Just add a scoop of ice cream to a glass of lemonade and fruit juice. The fizz and the icecream combined makes a fizzy froth. Add a couple of straws and a cocktail umbrella.

Frootilicious Fruit Punch Chop up fruit, such as apples, pineapple, mango, melon, grapes, into small pieces and add to a bowl of fruit juice. Serve with a large spoon or ladle.

Funky Frog Juice – Blend ltr kiwi juice with 3 tbsp of plain yoghurt for a 'blended frog effect'!

Fruit Smoothies – for a healthy party drink blend 2 banana's, 500ml apple juice, tablespoon of oats, 1 tub of yogurt. This makes a lovely tasty smoothie. If you want it sweeter add some honey. Add more juice if it's too thick. Blend well until all the lumps have gone.

Grape and Ginger Punch. Mix 2 cups of Grape Juice, 1 cup of Pineapple Juice, 1 bottle of Ginger Beer and a splash of lime juice. Mix with a bowl of icecubes.

Lemon and lime fizz. Mix 1 part lime cordial with 5 parts lemonade, and serve over ice with lemon slices.

Tiny Tins If you look in the mixer isle you'll find small tins of pop that are great for a kids party.

Apple Berry Smoothie Blend 3 cups apple juice with 1 cup frozen mixed berries (available from the freezer section in most supermarkets), a splash of plain yohgurt and a dash of honey.

Pep up your ice cubes by colouring them. Use water coloured with food colouring, fill the ice cube tray and freeze. For extra fun pop in a jelly insect sweet to each ice cube before freezing to create 'Frozen Bugs'!

Milk shakes make nutritious kids party drinks. Whisk milk shake power or syrup with milk. Have several flavours handy, the most popular flavours are chocolate and strawberry. Blend with ice cream for a really smooth chilled shake.

Q. How do you make a milk shake?

A. Sneak up on a cow and shout 'BOO'!
