Dispatched on my Birthday
by Miss Helena Socha
(Montrose Angus Scotland)
When I woke up to early on my Birthday
And read the papers when I got out of bed,
Then saw my name in the bitty just inside
I thought help Jings Crivens I'm dead.
Then the door bell rang and I did not answer
And the milk was outside on my step,
Oh they thought she has gone to the Angels
And is still up there praising God yet.
When I'd not been seen shopping for ages
And in Church my pew was empty each week,,
Friends said I think she has popped it
And is now in a much higher seat.
Yes when I woke up to early on my Birthday
Picked the paper from the mat at my feet,
Saw my name in the bitty just inside
I knew that I'd passed on in my sleep.
